How to Prepare for Your Architecture Office Reopening to Customers 

During the COVID-19 lockdown, most architects have continued to work in different ways. From Zoom meetings to working from home, there have been changes to the daily work life that kept projects moving. 

But now times have changed again and the option to open up offices for customer visits is available. Architects are going back to meeting people at the office. Are you ready? Do you have everything you need? 

Stock up on essential supplies 

If you have been working from home for a while, it might be that your essential supplies in the office are low. That can be anything from art supplies to sketch plans through to coffee for the coffee machine! 

Therefore, an audit of what supplies you have and what you need is one of the first things to do. There’s nothing worse than a client visiting and discovering you have run out of your favourite sketching pencil. Or that you don’t have any clean cups! 

Social distancing signs

Letting people know you are open 

Once the office is ready to receive visitors, the next step is to start to let people know you are available for in-person visits once more. There are a few ways to do this. 

If you have an email list of leads or past clients, it is a good idea to send out a quick email to let them know you can have visitors to the office again. That way they can book their appointment or contact you to discuss what is needed and arrange an in-person meeting to follow up. 

Flyers and leaflets are also a great idea. If you have past customers’ addresses, drop a short flyer through their door that tells them you are open for meetings and if they have a project coming up, you’re looking forward to discussing it with them. 

Also, consider getting a short leaflet printed to outline the services you offer and deliver these to related businesses in your area. From builder’s merchants to surveyors or solicitors, drop a leaflet off and ask them to let their clients know you are available in-person as needed. 

Put a re-opening banner in the window 

The final step is to use your office to advertise. A banner across the main window is the perfect way to grab people’s attention as they pass by and let them know that you are open and ready to help with their projects.
